You might be thinking about remodeling the interior design of your home or office. But when do you know it is the RIGHT time to do so?

Before calling an interior design firm to start the process, make sure you have all of your ducks in a row and are prepared for the transition.

Your Finances

First, are you able to afford to update your interior design? Your finances is going to be the biggest factor. Just because you want to upgrade the interior design in your home, doesn’t mean it is worth going into debt for. You also don’t want to have such a strict budget that you have to settle. Make sure to always figure out a realistic budget right away and start saving! Once you feel comfortable with your finances, it is time to move forward!

Your Availability

The next thing to consider when upgrading your interior design is your availability. Remodeling your interior design, even though working with an interior designer, is going to take time. You need to be available to fully plan what you want and also be available to answer any questions during the remodel. This means you shouldn’t start the remodeling if you plan on going on vacation or have a busy schedule. You don’t need to add extra stress on your plate. You want this to be a fun experience!

The Season

Of course, it depends on where you live and the weather you see, but you want to try to avoid doing any big home improvement projects during the wrong time of year. In places where you see harsh winters, you may not want to remodel during the snow season. It will be hard to prevent snow from being tracked in and depending on what you are doing, you may need to keep windows and doors open, making it a chilly inside!

If you live in a place where you see high temperatures such as Arizona, you want to avoid any big home improvement projects during the hottest time of the year. This is because you may have to have doors open and that will just make your air conditioner run even more.

Another season to think about isn’t necessarily has to do with weather, but the busy season for contractors. If you are on a strict timeline, try to schedule the remodel during the contactors not so busy season. Of course, you will need to ask around and talk to your interior design firm to learn this. If you have plenty of time, then just make sure to choose the right time for YOU!
